Garden Presentation

Philadelphia kids inspecting pinned carpenter bees

This morning I met with area kids to give a presentation at the SWQV garden. My prop collection now includes preserved native pollinators for the kids to examine. Kids are really into the dead bugs. Fortunately the ladies were agreeable so I was spared the live demonstration of how bee stings work. Today’s highlight came when I explained to the kids that I used honey instead of syrup on my pancakes. A boy sitting front and center asked if my wife would come down and make them some pancakes with honey on them. I told him that if he wanted to broker that deal with her then he can feel free, but I’ve used up my stock of brownie points some years ago. Afterwards we partook in some whipped frozen bananas which we proceeded to pour honey on. Another successful presentation on a hot summer day!
